Shootshootshoot I should be doing other things like...uh...being productive. Thanks George R.R. Martin; now I have these undeniable urges to draw knights, princesses, dragons...I'm just fulling illustration stereotypes left and right.

Also, I still can't draw women....so I'm learning how to draw armor instead.

It's too hot.

So, about markets.

I have this thing with drawing markets....like, I just really like to have an excuse to draw an absurd plethora of THINGS. My only qualm is that I sometimes get stuck in this rut of 1 point perspective, which, for some reason it bores me, and seems so...rudimentary. Also it reminds me middle school (art), and that just gives me the heebie jeebies.

ANYWAY, Here's the first pass/draft of a market scene:

Some perspective/size issues, but hopefully those will be addressed with some success in the final draft. Thankfully, I'm not responsible for putting in characters/people -- that responsibility goes to another wonderful, talented intern. :)

Okay so I have a soft spot for angsty, outcast anti-heroes. Also, this is not grotesque enough...need to stop reverting to the same face shape and making things look too "pretty".

I do like that nose, though.

I finally caved and started doing internship work, so I've only been able to do one of these, alas!

Also, I've finally gotten around to listening to Feast For Crows audiobook and I AM SO SAD that Roy Dotrice isn't the reader. Turns out he actually plays Maester Pycelle in the HBO series (!!!) and comes back as the reader in the next book (which is 6 days away)! I picked a good time to start reading/listening to the series...tempted to do fanart.

Snow

The nice thing about winter is that you can always keep on layering and bundling...but when it's summer time you can only take off so much. womp womp.

Hopefully the more I do of these, the faster they'll go and the looser my marks will be. Practice practice practice! :)
