I was hesitant to post this because of the disconnect because of the top half (done the first week of the semester) and the bottom half (done the last week of the semester). Oh well!
Thanks for your lovely comment! I use Windsor Newton Gouache (not the acrylic kind), but that's just my personal preference. A friend of mine (http://www.coroflot.com/mollyrobbins/illustration) does work in acrylic gouache, and does some pretty awesome stuff!
I tend to like the regular water based stuff because I tend to use it interchangably with watercolor. Regardless of what gouache you do end up using, I recommend starting off with a cheaper brand (such as Reeves...pretty sure you can get a set of 24 for 10-15 dollars) so you get used to using the medium.
